For decades, IQ was considered the gold standard of human potential. The higher your IQ, the further you were expected to go. Schools tested for it. Parents worried about it. But here is what the latest research reveals: curiosity is a far better predictor of success than intelligence.
Why? Because IQ is a measure of what you already know or can figure out. Curiosity is a measure of how hungry you are to know more. And in a rapidly changing world, hunger matters more than horsepower.
Studies show that curious children perform better academically, even when controlling for IQ. They ask more questions, seek out challenges, and persist longer when things get difficult. Curious children are also more likely to develop expertise because they do not just learn what they are told. They go looking for more.
